All students participating in IAU programs are held to IAU’s financial policies. Students participating in IAU programs through 3rd party organizations (ie: CEA, ASA, etc) are held to that organization’s financial policies. Failure to comply with these policies may impact student participation in the program as well as the ability to receive an official transcript.
All fees are due by the published payment deadline stated above. Failure to meet the established payment deadline may result in application cancellation or program removal. Such program cancellations or program removals are subject to the cancellation policy as stated below.
Students must have their financial accounts paid in-full before they are permitted to move into program housing, attend classes, or participate in any official program-related events or activities.
POLICIES FOR ALL PROGRAMS
- All fees are due by the published payment deadlines stated in the above table. Failure to meet the established payment deadline may result in cancellation (prior to the program start date) or program removal (on or after program start date). Such program cancellations or program removals are subject to the cancellation policy as stated below.

- The School of Record (SOR) fee from Fairfield University is nonrefundable.
CANCELLATION FEES
Semester & Summer Programs
A student who cancels their IAU application is financially responsible for the following fees based on the date their cancellation is received. A student’s program start date will refer to the arrival date listed for their specific IAU Program. If a student is participating in an Early Start Program, their start date is associated with the Early Start Program arrival date.

J-Term Programs
A student who cancels their J-Term application is financially responsible for the following fees based on the date their cancellation is received. A student’s program start date will refer to the arrival date listed for their J-Term Program.

Note: If the student is waitlisted for their chosen program or their chosen program is cancelled and they do not wish to enroll in a different available J-Term program, the enrollment deposit will be refunded.
Early Start Program
FEES AND HOLDS
Late fees of $300 will be added to all past due balances.
Financial holds are placed on all accounts with a past due balance.
Students are financially responsible for damages caused by the student to housing, round-trip airfare, passport/visa fees, meals for apartments/residences, any meals not included, personal expenses, optional programs such as the Early Start Program, supplemental course fees, J-Term and School of Record Transcript Fees, and/or course materials.
PAST DUE BALANCES
Please be advised of the following consequences of past due balances:
- Students may be responsible for collection agency fees, per annum interest and late fees, which can be a percentage of the outstanding balance.
- The unpaid debt may be reported to credit bureaus, which could negatively impact your credit rating for several years.
- The collection agency may pursue further action, including legal remedies, to recover the debt
DEFERRALS
Accepted students may defer their enrollment, and monies paid for up to one year from their original intended term of enrollment. Students who defer may be required to submit additional paperwork, and IAU reserves the right to contact the sending institution to confirm that the student is still in good standing and approved to participate in the program. Students may transfer monies paid to a future program.
EXCEPTIONS
Exceptions for illness, accident, or anything else out of the control of the student can be made. A written explanation along with supporting documentation must be emailed to IAU Admissions at enroll@iau.edu. Their decision is final.
